Moana Connections was born from a dream that has been on my heart for many years. As a Pasifika mother raising my children away from our ancestral homeland, I found myself asking an important question: How do we ensure our languages, stories, traditions, and cultural knowledge continue to live on for future generations?

I created Moana Connections because I know I am not alone. So many people are searching for ways to reconnect with their culture, learn their language, understand their history, or simply feel a stronger sense of belonging.

To me, Moana Connections is more than an organisation—it is a legacy. It is a place where culture can be celebrated, knowledge can be shared, and connections can be strengthened across generations and across oceans.

My hope is that no matter where you are in the world, Moana Connections helps you feel closer to the people, stories, and cultures that make the Pacific so special.

Welcome to our journey. Emily

"What started as a fun little conversation about business quickly became something so much bigger than I ever imagined. Growing up on the Gold Coast in Australia, I was surrounded by Cook Islands culture through dance and community, but I never truly learnt the deeper foundations of what it meant to be Cook Island & Tokelauan. The language wasn’t spoken to me growing up, and over the years and becoming an adult I realised how disconnected I felt from my heritage.
Now, as an adult and mother, reconnecting with my culture has become deeply important to me, not just for myself, but for my children and the generations after us.
Through Moana Connections, the Pacifika Community, Stories and current experiences - I’ve been learning the fundamentals of being Pasifika. What makes this journey so special is knowing there are so many others navigating the same path. Wanting to reconnect, learn, and feel closer to who they are.
Moana Connections is more than learning; it’s about community, belonging, and creating a space where culture can be shared, embraced, and passed down with pride."

Moana Connections

The ocean doesn’t divide our islands; it connects them. It is a vast highway of history, culture, and shared identity, and it is from this deep truth that Moana Connections was born. Founded in 2022 by Emily and Margaret, our company was created with a clear vision: to serve as a living bridge for Pasifika culture, education, art, and knowledge. We saw a growing need to anchor our people, especially our younger generations—in the rich soil of their heritage, and we decided to build a dedicated space to make that happen.
At its core, Moana Connections is far more than an organization; we are a heartbeat for the community. Emily and Margaret founded this collective because they understood that knowing who you are and where you come from provides an essential sense of belonging. In a fast-paced, modern world, ancestral roots can sometimes feel distant. We are here to change that by helping our community reconnect with their culture and heritage, ensuring that our collective identity is celebrated and sustained.
We bring this mission to life by focusing on four sacred pillars: culture, education, art, and knowledge. We honor the unique traditions and values of our diverse Pacific nations, while sharing the stories and histories that shape who we are. By uplifting our traditional and contemporary artists and safeguarding the wisdom of our elders, we ensure this vital knowledge is passed safely into the hands of the next generation. Whether you are looking to deepen your own cultural journey or support community-led initiatives, Moana Connections belongs to all of us. We are incredibly proud of the voyage we began in 2022, and we invite you to walk, learn, and grow alongside us.
